The Story
Founded in 2020 by Zamaine Ismail, West and Hunter began with a simple ambition: to redefine what a barbershop could be. Built as an independent, family-run business in the heart of Chiswick, London, it was never intended to be just another place for a haircut. It was created as a destination where exceptional barbering, hospitality and meaningful human connection come together.
Today, West and Hunter is recognised as one of Britain's most celebrated luxury men's grooming brands. Winner of Barbershop of the Year 2023 at the British Hairdressing Business Awards and Best Client Experience 2023, alongside finalist recognition at the World Spa Awards 2025, the business has earned a reputation for craftsmanship, service and attention to detail. This journey has also led to features in the Telegraph, Men's Health, Esquire and other national publications, further recognising the brand's contribution to modern men's grooming.
Our philosophy is simple: a haircut should never feel transactional. Much like a bespoke suit, every service is tailored to the individual, taking into account hair type, face shape, lifestyle and personal style. Every appointment is approached with care, consultation and precision, creating an experience that extends far beyond the chair.
As the business has evolved, so too has its vision. West and Hunter has introduced one of the UK's first integrated private members' concepts within a barbershop, combining award-winning grooming with an exclusive members' lounge, curated events, community gatherings and the forthcoming West and Hunter Podcast. The members' lounge also features an exclusive gallery by photographer Teo Andrioli, with selected works available exclusively through West and Hunter, while our collaboration with Nicholas London celebrates British craftsmanship through a carefully curated lifestyle offering. Together, these partnerships reflect our ambition to create a destination where grooming, culture, design and community exist under one roof.
